You Already Know

A reflection on trusting the quiet knowing beneath the noise.

“The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift.”

– Albert Einstein

Dear Reader,

Most of us have been trained to look outward for answers.

We look for more information, more data, more validation from others before we feel ready to act. And in reaching for more, we are often hoping that enough outside input will eventually make the decision feel safe.

But underneath all of that searching, there’s usually something quieter already present. A sense of knowing we can’t always fully articulate, but that’s consistently there. And it’s surprisingly easy to dismiss, especially when it’s in conflict with what we want the decision to be.

Yet that intuition doesn’t argue its case. It doesn’t compete with the noise or demand your attention. It just sits there, steadfast, waiting for you to listen.

The real challenge then isn’t that we don’t know what to do. Most of the time, we already have an internal sense of the right direction. The challenge is that we’ve been conditioned to distrust it, to override the quiet signal until it is fully supported by analysis.

But some of the best decisions I’ve ever made came from honoring that quiet knowing before I could fully explain it. And some of my biggest regrets came from talking myself out of it.

My question for you this week:

Where in your life are you overriding what you already know to be true?

Sit with that.

– Ken
