Still Waters Are Clear
A reflection on stillness, clarity, and the quality of the actions that follow.
“All of humanity’s problems stem from man’s inability to sit quietly in a room alone.”
– Blaise Pascal
Dear Reader,
A client recently asked why meditation is part of nearly everything we teach, including the Seize the Second program.
It’s a fair question. When most people think about success, they think about action: more effort, better strategy, more doing. Meditation rarely fits that picture. It feels separate from performance, not foundational to it.
But here’s what I’ve come to believe: the difference between good results and great ones often isn’t how much you do. It’s the clarity you bring to what you do.
Think of how muddy water clears the moment it stops being stirred. Stillness works the same way, it lets what’s already there settle, until you can finally see clearly.
And clarity changes everything: your decisions, your focus, the actions you actually take. That’s not soft. That’s a competitive edge.
The goal was never to sit still for its own sake. It was always to move better because of it.
My question for you this week:
Where in your life would more clarity change the quality of your actions?
Sit with that.
– Ken
